29 Newbury Street has been a long time dining staple of Newbury Street and Back Bay. Through the 80's and 90's 29 has seen its share of highs and lows. We are pleased to announce new life breathed into this old stand-by launching a new era in 29's history. Enter Sean McCaffrey.
It was a great pleasure to join Chef Sean McCaffrey, 29 Newbury's newest chef on a tasting extravaganza. Using only the highest quality of ingredients Sean prepared the most elaborate sampling menu I have experienced in a long time. The meal was an exciting assortment of interesting sauces, inspiring colors and textures that indulged all of the senses.
Sean draws influence from Asian cuisine as well as classic French cuisine with an emphasis on Provincial. His talent to combine various styles of cooking results in classic dishes with an innovative twist. "My style is always changing, there is always something to learn," adds McCaffrey. "I love taking a traditional dish and switching it up a bit." Sean's knack for food is sure to satisfy even the toughest of critics.
Back at the table a steady parade of delectable appetizers and entrees arrive, each beautifully presented. Each plate was striving to out do the last in color, texture, form and taste. Young McCaffrey demonstrates a great deal of bravado preparing daring creations such as a tofu steak, cobbi beef hamburgers and appetizers of ostrich that made my mouth water.
29 is a quiet, romantic bar/restaurant appropriately located at 29 Newbury Street. Young professionals can be found relaxing at the bar over a drink while waiting for their date to join them for a quiet dinner in the heart of Boston. The ambiance of 29 partnered with the romantic flavor of Sean's cuisine offers the perfect date night dinning experiences with good food, a great wine list and cozy booths to share an elegant evening. 29 is lively yet inviting enough to carry an intimate conversation. Thanks to the friendly and talented bartenders there is a strong following of regulars from the neighborhood.
Visit 29 for a romantic night out if you're in the mood for great food and a friendly atmosphere.
